Moor Barrios: On the Up And Up!
|
A few decades from now, the young owners of tiny and new winery Moor Barrios, will hopefully be sitting on the veranda of their rustic country home, sipping a glass of their homemade Malbec, and laughing as they recount the story of their first harvest to their grandchildren. But until then, they surely have a lot of scrambling left to do. |
Calle 13 Plays Lujan
County vendimias, or harvest festivals, are usually nothing to write home about. Surely nothing in comparison to the hullabaloo of the province's central festival with four hundred plus dancers and musicians, exotic light shows and fireworks etc. This year, however, one district, Lujan de Cuyo, is stepping it up a notch with national and international bands during their three night festival at which their queen is selected; highlight of the event Calle 13, the rambunctious Puerto Rican trio that features part reggaeton, part rap, part biting social commentary and 100 percent booty shakin' goodness! |
Angels Make Malbec Too
|
Gwynne Hogan tastes the malbec of angels at The Vines' Winemaker's Night... You’ve got to love a winery that knows what they’re good at and sticks to it. One such winery goes by the name Malbec de Angeles, and presents just two wines in their entire portfolio, both of which are malbecs…surprise surprise! Located in Vistalba, a prime location that is said to have a desirable combo of Uco Valley and Lujan characteristics, Malbec de Angeles sits of some of the oldest vineyards in the area dating back to 1924. Unlike the vast majority of wineries who buy more grapes than they grow, Malbec de Angeles owns twenty hectares of land, only 3.5 of which are in use for the production of their wines! |

It's that time of year again... The Annual Argentina Wine Awards are almost here.
Despite the plethora of naysayers who thought infernal mayhem would brake loose at this Sunday’s (Feb 5th) free and public Calle 13 concert, the event went down in history as one of the most spectacular shows in the Mendoza’s history. Turnout was vastly greater than expected, reaching aproximately 80,000 people smashed up together bumping to the rhythm of the Puerto Rican family trio, (although Calle 13’s twitter the following day stated had been 100,000 attendees).
