Tourists got hot under the collar this summer and it was not because of the heat.  Ridiculous ATM limits frustrated people, prompting remarks that it was a form of highway robbery. But who is exactly to blame? Katie Taylor investigates.

At around midday on any given day, Citibank on San Martin and the Peatonal is awash with people waiting in line to use the ATM facility, among which the occasional foreign language can be heard – possibly questioning the reason behind having to make consecutive transactions to let them draw out more than 300 pesos at a time.

The soil in this province has been tagged for more than just gold medal-winning reds.  It's also destined to quench the uranium thirst of Argentina's nuclear power industry.  Luke McMahon investigates.

Mendoza
, like the rest of Argentina, is booming.  The economy has bounded forward since the crisis of 2001 and the signs of expansion are all around.  Government coffers are swelling.  New luxury hotels and apartment buildings are going up.  International investment and confidence in the wine industry has never been higher.  Economic growth nationwide is currently running at 9% a year, and recent figures put Mendoza's annual growth even higher.

Why I invested in Argentina

Vladimir Gasic puts his money where his hopes are and settles down in San Rafael

I lived in Arizona and real estate prices there have gone up considerably in the past two years (about 65%) due mainly to investor driven speculations. Such huge appreciation has never occurred before in the southwest.

Having gone through a stock market internet bubble-bust scenario in the late 1990s & early 2000, I decided not to gamble with my recently appreciated assets and determined to “be out two years too soon, than a day too late”.

The thing about Argentina, is there's an awful lot of it out there.

First-time visitors often arrive full of enthusiasm to experience every gem this incredible country has to offer.  Tango in Buenos Aires?  Check.  Glaciers, whales and penguins in Patagonia?  Absolutely. Skiing in Bariloche, Malbec in Mendoza, colonial colour in Córdoba, a quick nip up to Salta for native arts and empanadas, duck across to the thundering falls in Iguazú, and back to BA in time for tea.
